Pirated Apple (1986 Hong Kong)

Thursday, October 12th, 2006

What was happening at the Hong Kong basements 20 years ago?
simple: they where selling pirated apple computers and software :) (like now)

Take a look at this video that was recorded back in 1986 using a hidden camera.
*the intro is quite long but retro-futuristically nice :)
The most amazing is that in that shops they could get any software within 3 days of its announcement anywhere in the world.
How could they do this without internet?
easy: they had lots of good friends that were airline pilots :)

hk > density shots

Thursday, September 7th, 2006

I just discovered the photos of michael wolf , who captures the built density of hong kong
impressive!

“One of the most densely populated metropolitan areas in the world, Hong Kong has an overall density of nearly 6,700 people per square kilometer. The majority of its citizens live in flats in high-rise buildings. In Architecture of Density, Wolf investigates these vibrant city blocks, finding a mesmerizing abstraction in the buildings’ facades.”

recRoom

Saturday, August 5th, 2006

just recovered from the fun and interesting RecRoom event last night…

the event-party was organized by Videotage (a non-profit interdisciplinary artist collective, which focuses on the development of video and new media art in Hong Kong) and it was the closing of the “design series” events.

last night we enjoyed the work of Robot (a design and music collective from HK), with special hightlight of the work evolution, a short film that was screened prior to the dj/vj session… pretty fun!
enjoy it :)
